I know us Pats fans are tired of this whole Deflategate mess and want it to go away and the season to start, but even I’m surprised at how big of a scandal this seems to be on the verge of becoming. Also, I’m worried about the long term impact and damage that this could do to the NFL and the fans of any team. It seems like a huge PR mess that the league doesn’t want or need after their problems last year. Is it too early to consider the long term impact of this for ALL fans and teams?

There’s no question this has gotten so far beyond the scope than anyone ever imagined, even when the original Wells Report came out. But what is clear is the current NFL administration is what is bad for the NFL.

We were told that this was all about Tom Brady not being truthful when the punishment was handed down. But I’m still waiting for one piece of hard proof that Brady lied at all.

The NFL on the other hand has now been caught in a web of lies and it’s supposed to be their job to maintain the integrity of the league, not take a sledge hammer to it.

Forget it was our team and quarterback that this happened to. In what universe is it okay for the NFL to ignore facts, to let one of their clubs be unnecessarily destroyed in the media and the lie and cover up the truth just to maintain their original premise that the Patriots cheated.

Should we really be surprised after what we’ve seen from Roger Goodell and his cronies who seem far more invested in themselves than the integrity of the game.

Here’s the thing – Goodell and his team of lawyers and other monkeys are completely replaceable. The NFL and their fans don’t need them, and as they get caught in each new lie it only reinforces that they need to go.

You never thought a situation could be handled worse than the recent controversies they’ve had – Bountygate, Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson – but somehow they’ve managed to blow all those out of the water with this one.

The sooner they’re gone, the sooner the NFL can start re-establishing trust with their owners, players and fans. But there’s no going back now.

Patriots Training Camp Preview: Running Backs

Running back is one of the most intriguing positions on the New England Patriots’ roster this training camp. The headline of the offseason was the loss of breakout player LeGarrette Blount, but the Pats didn’t make a veteran addition to replace Blount, leaving the spotlight on fourth-year veterans Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen, both of […]
