I don’t know if there’s any definitive answer to this, but how soon can we expect to know if Welker’s staying or leaving?

I’m sure the Patriots would like to get it done by Friday. Teams can start talking to free agents-to-be on Saturday, so if we get to that point Welker’s phone will start ringing, and that could poison the well. But you never know, Welker might want to get a sense of what’s out there even if is he planning on taking what the Pats are offering. But if I’m the Pats front office I don’t want to leave it to chance if some team comes in with a stupid offer.
