Greg A. Bedard on Salk & Holley/WEEI

February 5, 2014 by Mike Dussault

Greg A. Bedard on Salk & Holley/WEEI

Good stuff as always from Bedard. I find it funny, based on the text they read on air, that some Pats fans refuse to face reality with Wilfork. The first major injury of his career could not come at a worse time for him or the team.

As Bedard states, maybe a one-to-two year extension where they can spread some money out would be best for both sides. But the stark reality is that a third of football players who tear their Achilles never return and even the other two-thirds that do return are not the same players.

The Pats must protect themselves financially and on the field in case Wilfork is never the same player again.

Other good stuff in here as well on Talib and Edelman, and I love how Bedard brought up exactly what I wrote about yesterday, everyone seems to ignore the development of young players. The only way to improve, they seem to think, is through free agency or trading up in the draft.
