Free-agent defensive end Andre Carter, who turned in a 10-sack season in 2011 with the Patriots, was present at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday, Mike Reiss reports.

Andre Carter checks in with Pats – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

It’s pretty safe to say that Patriots fans universally want Andre Carter back in the fold. It’s tough to know exactly what to expect from him, perhaps it’s reasonable to think the team would like to get him back in the fold now to start the team building process since he’s a great leader. Ultimately I think we could be looking at him starting the season on the PUP list. There are enough options at RDE (or Elephant) to start the season with Trevor Scott being the early front runner. Perhaps Chandler Jones can give you something there as well though I wouldn’t expect to see much of him on early downs in September.
