Even if we do have a dominating performance on defense, does it mean much? It’s against a rookie QB and a team that isn’t expecting much out of their season (even though it is true Rex gives Brady problems). I mean look at how good the defense “looked” against he Titans last year and then got a wake up call when we faced real QBs. Also how many snaps do you think Boyce will get? I would like to see him use his speed on the seam or the boundary.

Well I guess I’d counter that with how many dominating performances have we seen out of this defense the last three seasons, even against rookie and back-up QBs? Last week’s game was the first time since 2009 that they didn’t give up a 20+ touchdown.

So yeah, expectations are a little low around here, but what would expectations be tonight if we had the defense from 2003-2007? 10 points or less maybe for the Jets.

All I know is that this is the home opener against a rookie quarterback in his first road start. I don’t know what we’ll expect against Peyton or Big Ben or Matt Ryan or any other good veteran QB, but for tonight, I expect to see this defense show us something because this re-build has been going on for five years.

It’s time.

As for Boyce, it will depend on how healthy Dobson is, but I think he could see around 20.

I think it’s a universal problem to begin with,” said one AFC general manager. “The college game is not kind to the evaluation process for receivers. Receivers in pro football require the ability to separate from man coverage and have great hands. In college football, receivers can just come off the line at any pace […]
