Do you think the Patriots will go after WR’s in the draft and forsake DT’s, or will they try to do both?

March 22, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Right now I still lean toward a DT in the first round unless they trade back, which everyone knows there’s a good chance of. There’s still some names out there like Israel Idonije and Alan Branch, but right now they still need some DT depth.

Wouldn’t rule out WR either, or to a lesser extent DB. Either way it will just come down to value. But I think the first two rounds will see some combination of DT, WR, and CB, depending on who falls. The good news is that there’s really good depth in to the second round for all those positions.

Vollmer is the wild card, if he doesn’t return RT could be a priority too.

I always felt that safety was a temporary gig for dmac and i find myself hoping that he can come back down to corner and let harmon or richards take over for him. having an updated version of the corner dmac was in 2010 should give the new front 7 a bit more time to wreck havoc no?

Jeff Howe tweeted yesterday that the plan is currently to leave McCourty at safety and while I think that makes sense, I wouldn’t totally rule out him moving back to corner at some point due to injuries or poor performance. The advantage of McCourty at safety is that he can help get everyone lined up […]
