James White impresses: The fourth-round pick caught the eye several times this week. White showed off good hands throughout minicamp, and appears poised to serve as Shane Vereen’s backup. It will be interesting to see how well he blocks once the pads come out in training camp.

Questions, Comments, Complaints, Compliments, Whatever
The Void is upon us! Yes, with mini-camps over the players and coaches of the NFL now take their vacations and the actual football news grinds to a halt (unless somebody gets arrested!).
It won’t be long before training camp opens and we get underway on this year’s campaign, but this is the worst part of the offseason. Don’t worry, I’m here to help you get through it with an unending assortment of Pats entertainment.
We did get a little more insight into the 2014 Pats this week. Hightower might be staying at OLB, while Mayo slides back to the middle. Harmon and Ryan looking strong. Kenbrell Thompkins picking up where he left off early last season. Lots of shuffling along the offensive line. Wilfork, Kelly and Will Smith all appear on track.

This one of of the big takeaways from Education of a Coach (which if you haven’t read, go get it and read it asap) and why the whole “Belichick is arrogant” storyline never rings true to me.
I think this year is probably going to be one of the most exciting times in my career to actually put pads on and be able to practice. Every year I’m excited but I think this year is going to be a little more special because of what I’ve been through and how far I came along,” he said. “I’m very happy. Excited. It’s been a long time being able to step out here with the guys. Just to take that step is very important to me. We still have a lot to do, but I’m very confident where I’m at. I’ll continue to just get better. It’s going to take time but I’m very positive where I’m at right now.
