Vince Wilfork addressed the players in the locker room after the game, urging them to remember that the season is still young and to set aside any individual concerns or issues.

I consider [White] my brother. There was never a time that I didn’t consider him that,” Bernard said. “His family did so much for me. And my family understands the extent that [the White] family went through for us and for me. No matter how many times you say thank you or do this or do that for them, it doesn’t go up to the point to how much they helped me out. Their family means a lot to me.

The Patriots were in their defensive sub packages 67 percent of the snaps last season, which reflects in part how the game has become more spread out offensively. Because of that, some now view a fifth defensive back as more of a valuable starter than a third linebacker. But through four games this season, the numbers are way down; the Patriots have been in sub defense 53 percent of the time and base/heavy personnel 47 percent. Are we seeing a correction of sorts? Or is it too small of a sample size? Something I’m interested to chart in the weeks to come.

Quick-hit thoughts around New England Patriots, NFL – ESPN Boston

I think the season will end with the numbers closer to what we’ve seen over the last few years. There just haven’t been any elite passing offenses yet.

Greg Cosell’s Film Review: Patriots’ issues way deeper than Tom Brady | Shutdown Corner – Yahoo Sports

Greg Cosell’s Film Review: Patriots’ issues way deeper than Tom Brady | Shutdown Corner – Yahoo Sports

When Greg Cosell speaks about the Patriots we should all listen, and what he breaks down here (in far greater detail that I ever could) echoes what I’ve felt the biggest problem is right now. That of course is the OL isn’t very good, doesn’t have much experience, and Brady and the Patriots know it. The trickle down effect from that, even when the blocking is good, has permeated through the entire offense.

Again, the only way to fix it is to find the best starting 5 OL and just keep rolling them out there until the trust develops. It wasn’t there on Monday night, but that doesn’t mean they can string enough plays together to win on Sunday.

Again, having had experience with 3-4 defense, a lot of those guys, the Willie McGinests, the Mike Vrabels, the Rosie [Roosevelt] Colvins, those guys, whether you want to call them outside linebackers, defensive ends, they essentially line up in the same spot and do a lot of the same things. There has to be like […]
