Bruschi breaks down the Patriots loss to Jets

Bruschi breaks down the Patriots loss to Jets

Great read from Tedy, he obviously knows what it takes to win in the playoffs and what the Pats were lacking yesterday. The Jets had a plan and they executed it, and the insight Tedy provides here is interesting.

My reactionary thought is that another explosive running back, a big, tough runner might be just the thing this team team needs on offense to overcome what the Jets did yesterday.

While much of it can attributed to the Pats being flat, we can also expect to see the same defensive game plan from opponent next season. Building a team to defeat that defensive scheme (sans the fake injuries) begins shortly.

But I think we’ve seen enough playoff letdowns to know that some kind of evolution on offense is needed again. Seems like forever since we won a playoff game doesn’t it?

Is this game all about getting a lead and limiting Lynch’s touches as much as possible? Since the Lions game, the Pats have only started one game particularly well – last week vs the Colts, and look what happened there. They seem very adept at keeping their foot on the oppositions throat when in the lead. If the Pats get ahead, and Seattle has to throw more, I like our chances with Revis v Baldwin, Browner v Willson, and Arrington+Mccourty v Kearse. If we fall behind I worry about our run D.

Valid concerns, but I think with the way our secondary matches up with them, stopping Lynch is probably already the biggest key of the game. Would a points deficit exaggerate that? Of course, but we’ve seen this Patriots team dig out of a hole quite a few times before. You just can’t tell how the […]
