Jets D must get in Bradys face all day. Pressure is key. Stopping it is tough but containing it is key. Jamming the WRs and TEs at the line is a must. Backers must hit the crossers and get them of the off course. One on one match ups don’t work against Pats, all 11 guys must be on same page. Also the best defense is an efficient offense. Ball control and move the chains with long possessions and 3rd down conversions. Lastly Jets must win the special teams battle. Make Pats go 80-85 yds every drive. That gameplan is easier said then done, but it can happen.

Anthony Becht who kindly answered us today with regard to how to slow down the Pats high scoring offense. Follow the former Jets TE on twitter@anthony_becht

”Yeah, I think he’s going to unleash hell on them,” Dilfer responded. ”I do. Early in the week, I felt like the Jets had a chance in this game. I looked for every reason why this thing could be an epic battle. That the Jets could redeem themselves from the 45-3. Then I started to look at more film, and realized the Patriots are just smarter than everyone else.

”And then I look at how they’re handling (the trash talk), and yeah, I do think it festers in a good way,” he went on. ”They have the ability to use all this stuff, and hold it inside, and use it to their advantage come game time. I don’t see how this strategy works against the Patriots that the Jets are using. I can see it working against somebody else. I just can’t see it working against the Patriots. I think Tom already with a razor sharp focus, finds even another level to his focus and his preparation. I can just see him playing one of those flawless football games.”

ESPN: Next level stats on Patriots – Jets

Great stuff here. The interesting thing to note is that the Patriots are not a team that is blitz-happy. The numbers back that up. Clearly they prefer to play coverage and wait for the other team to mess up.

What this defensive philosophy is based upon is that it’s easier to execute defense than it is offense, which considering the offense has the ball seems like a pretty common sense assumption. This is the soul of “bend don’t break”.

Patriots’ X-factor vs. Jets

January 13, 2011 by Mike Dussault

One player that was not yet on the Patriots the last time they faced the Jets, and has made a real impact in the teams four games since is Eric Moore.

With Jermaine Cunningham still fighting a calf injury it’s likely that Moore could see significant time in the base 3-4 defense, as a designated pass rusher, or even as a defensive end.

The fact is that Moore is one player that the Jets won’t know quite what to expect from, making him a definite presence that must be accounted for.

Since joining the Pats off the street Moore has registered two sacks and two forced fumbles. He’s been used in a variety of ways, mostly due to injuries, so as to what his true strength is we, along with the Jets, can only guess.

At 6’ 4" and 268 pounds Moore physically looks like an ideal outside linebacker for the Patriots system. With 14 tackles and 1 pass defensed to go with his sacks and forced fumbles he’s clearly been a force since he was signed on December 3rd.

Though he is fighting a hamstring injury that kept him out of a practice last week, we hope that he’ll be ready to go Sunday. BB can employ him in a number of different ways, giving him a versatile player to confuse the Jets with.

RUMOR: Pats Interested in Vincent Jackson

I can’t vouch for this guy but he seems to be a New York radio personality that had good sources when the whole Revis deal went down, and he’s saying that those same trusted sources are telling him the Pats are interested in Vincent Jackson. You can see his twitter feed where he made the […]
