Aaron Hernandez’s New England Patriots deal a steal – NFL.com

Aaron Hernandez’s New England Patriots deal a steal – NFL.com

According to this article the Pats currently have $10 million of cap space left for this season. Not sure why some of that can’t go to Welker.

I know Hernando and the Franchise Tag is a big point of conversation here in the days when there isn’t much to talk about, but personally I see him as a luxury and one that they won’t overpay.

If we’re talking about guys in line for extensions I think this season will be about identifying who on the defense they want to build around. Is it Chung? Is it McCourty? Is it Spikes or even Kyle Love?

Locking up the core pieces of the defense are more of a concern to me than Hernando. Maybe I’m pessimistic but I think he and the Pats’ relationship will get messy next year.
