Patriots place Sony Michel, Cody Davis on IR, promote three to main roster for KC game

October 5, 2020 by Tom Shaw-Mellors

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Per Field Yates, the Patriots are placing RB Sony Michel on IR today. A tough break for Sony who had one of his better games as a Patriot against Las Vegas, he’ll be out with a quad injury for at least three weeks.

S/ST Cody Davis also unsurprisingly ends up on IR, he missed practice all week and now is given a few weeks to recover.

Backfield roster shuffling for the Patriots: Sony Michel is off to IR after suffering a quad injury, while Damien Harris is being activated to the roster after missing three games due to a hand injury.

Now, here’s what we’ve been waiting for, RB Damien Harris is off IR and active for tonight, he’ll surely be lead back to begin proceedings and the first time we’ll get to see him in a meaningful role as a Patriot.

In addition to Damien Harris, the #Patriots activated WR Gunner Olszewski from IR and WR Isaiah Zuber as a COVID-19 replacement.

WR Gunner Olszewski has also been activated from IR and will be active tonight, along with fellow WR Isaiah Zuber, who gets another chance to show what he can do as the team’s official COVID-19 replacement.

Will Damien Harris Lead the Patriots in Rushing?

July 10, 2019 by Mike Dussault

The rise to health and success of Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead was an underrated aspect of the 2018 Patriots offense. Both players had lengthy injury histories but when it mattered most, both players delivered.

It was the first playoff run of the entire Patriots dynasty where the team topped 150 yards on the ground in every game. Previously, they had only topped 150 four times ever in the playoffs.

Many analysts seem to undervalue the ground game these days and I understand that passing drives offenses these days. But with Tom Brady closing in on 42 it makes more sense than ever for the Patriots to ensure their running game can take some heat off him.

Return of the Patriots Rookie Eyeball Test: 2019 Edition

May 24, 2019 by Mike Dussault

An annual fixture on the blog, for some reason I missed last year’s rookie eyeball test so we’ve got to bounce back this year and there’s plenty of guys to critique with an entirely superficial judgment of them solely on their helmet/facemask choices.

We used to be able to also include number selection but that’s on the backburner once again this year as Bill Belichick has repeated what he did last year — giving rookies numbers in the 50s based on their draft order.

Let’s run it down in order of pick/50’s number, click on the player’s name link to see a pic of them.
