Patriots Tweets Of Note: Training Camp Day 8

Day 8 is in the books after a hot morning on the practice fields next to Gillette Stadium. Football is so close to being back for us all as the Pats continue to put in the work ahead of their first preseason game next Thursday against the Giants.

Let’s take a look at the Tweets Of Note from Day 8 of the Patriots 2022 Training Camp!

Gonna be a scorcha today, can you say Miami Week 1 weather? pic.twitter.com/3aISsyqzCP

— Mike Dussault (@MikeDussault19) August 4, 2022

Not a cloud in the sky for what was an absolute scorcher in Foxboro, oh what I’d give to have been there sunning it up.

Bill Belichick says he isn't sure when TEs coach Nick Caley will come back to the team. He's been out with illness since at least Monday.

— Henry McKenna (@henrycmckenna) August 4, 2022

Caley had at one point been considered the next OC in waiting for the team, but instead remains the TEs coach.

Day 8 of Patriots training camp

Absent: Matthew Judon, Dalton Keene

PUP: James White

NFI: Chasen Hines, Andrew Stueber

Returned: Jabrill Peppers, Malcolm Butler, Devin McCourty, Brian Hoyer, Lil’Jordan Humphrey

Limited: Deatrich Wise pic.twitter.com/tb7eg84IWF

— Mark Daniels (@ByMarkDaniels) August 4, 2022

No Matt Judon or Dalton Keene, who were the only new absences today, good to get a group of returns who were missing yesterday, however.

Jahlani Tavai went down with an apparent lower-body injury on an 11-on-11 rep. Currently being slowly helped off the field by team trainers.

— Zack Cox (@zm_cox) August 4, 2022

Not good news for Tavai who went into the medical tent following this injury, he was also visited by Bill and Steven Belichick, along with Jerrod Mayo.

Some 11s work today for Pierre Strong. #Patriots

— Evan Lazar (@ezlazar) August 4, 2022

After being limited through the first week of camp, it’s great that Strong has been getting involved in full drills, a lot of fans will watch him this year with a lot of intrigue, myself included, especially if he can carve out a role in a busy RB room.

Couple notes on OL/DL one on ones:

– Two quality reps by David Andrews vs Godchaux and Ekuale

– Justin Herron has stood out. Clean win over Ronnie Perkins.

– Gave a slight win for LaBryan Ray vs Trent Brown

– Strange held his own vs Barmore. Barmore and Onwenu exchanged Ws

— Evan Lazar (@ezlazar) August 4, 2022

A nice breakdown here from Evan Lazar, who’s been keeping an eagle eye on both offensive & defensive lines. The key standout for me was Cole Strange holding his own against Christian Barmore, the latter who has been making light work of most opposition so far in camp.

Hose day for the Patriots today. Matthew Slater is the one with the hose, spraying the rookies while they try to recover a wet football.

— Alex Barth (@RealAlexBarth) August 4, 2022

A yearly tradition now conducted by Matthew Slater, where veterans officially welcome the 2022 rookies.

1-on-1 pass rush highlights:
– Josh Uche stole some souls, went 3-0.
– Christian Barmore went 2-1-1 with tough battles against Mike Onwenu.
– Nice periods for David Andrews, and Justin Herron.

— Andrew Callahan (@_AndrewCallahan) August 4, 2022

A note from Andrew Callahan lending some praise to Josh Uche for his work in 1v1 drills earlier, a player who I expect to take a much bigger jump into year 3 than he did for year 2.

No morning practice tomorrow, instead a lighter session inside Gillette Stadium for season ticket holders and local residents is planned for the evening.
