Patriots GameDay Supplement 9/20

September 20, 2020 by Tom Shaw-Mellors

Happy Sunday! Here’s your Game Day supplement for all of the latest news ahead of tonight’s Week 2 encounter against Seattle.

Roster Moves

Main Roster
K Nick Folk (Signed from PS)
CB Myles Bryant (Signed from PS)
DL Nick Thurman (Promoted from PS – will revert back after gameday)

Folk was signed to the team’s main roster after last week’s win against Miami, I thought we could potentially see a new face in as kicker, but Folk will get to continue his role for now. UDFA Myles Bryant is on the team! Now, given the depth already at the CB position, Bryant will have to be patient, but I like the kid and I think he can contribute in time.

Nick Thurman also gets an opportunity to support, his promotion to the main roster will give some extra depth for the defensive line.

Practice Squad
Signed
QB Jake Dolegala
OL James Ferentz

Dolegala, a former UDFA, joins after spending his entire rookie season as a backup to Andy Dalton in Cincinnati. Ferentz returns for another stint with the Patriots as he enters his sixth year in the league.

Injury Check-In

In Friday’s final injury report, six Patriots listed as questionable for today’s game.

OUT
LB Josh Uche (Ankle)
QUESTIONABLE
DL Adam Butler (Shoulder)
LB Brandon Copeland (Knee)
WR Julian Edelman (Knee)
WR N’Keal Harry (Shoulder)
WR Matthew Slater (Knee)
TE Dalton Keene (Neck)

Although the questionable list has grown since last Sunday, the expectation is that all six should be good to go. Rookie Josh Uche will have to wait for his first NFL start, he’s out with an ankle injury.

The #Patriots should be at full strength against the #Seahawks tonight, as WR Julian Edelman (knee) and WR N’Keal Harry (shoulder) both should play, source said.

Salary Cap Update

My Patriots salary cap space number after Nick Thurman's elevation to the practice squad is $25,184,599 – a $27,482 decrease from the last update. Should go down $25K tomorrow night once David Andrews earns another NLTBE active roster bonus.

— Patscap (@patscap) September 19, 2020

As always, @patscap keeps us up to date with all of the latest salary cap updates. After roster movements and last week’s pay rise to Gilmore, the Pats are still sitting on $25,184,599 of space.

Social media rumors were heating up this week about a potential trade for WR Allen Robinson or WR Odell Beckham, I personally think neither will happen, but the team does still have plenty of space to inherit a star contract.

Fantasy Starts (PPR)

QB Cam Newton
Newton had a solid first game for the Pats last week, scoring 25.70 for PPR leagues. This week the run game might not be in play as much, so we could see a bigger passing performance. Either way, he’s worth a start. Week 1 – 25.70 Week 2 projected points (NFL Fantasy) – 18.31

WR Julian Edelman
Although questionable, Jules is expected to play today, last week he still managed to rack up 13.00 points in a game which was predominantly run-heavy. Tonight’s game against the Seahawks could see more passing attempts, so I’d keep Edelman around in your teams. Week 1 – 13.00 Week 2 projected points (NFL Fantasy) – 13.53

RB James White
Both White and Michel got similar points last week, but again, I’m sticking with White to start in a game where we should expect Newton to make more than 19 passing attempts. Week 1 – 8.20 Week 2 projected points (NFL Fantasy) – 9.04

GAME DAY LFG!
