The Patriots have waived RB J.J. Taylor, an undrafted free agent out of Arizona who showed well during training camp, per source.

Would be a logical practice squad addition if he clears waivers.

— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 5, 2020

17:02- 4 more cuts to go.

16:58- The team could bring Folk back after some movement, which could be the real reason, or, they could be starting fresh at the position.

16:55- Erm ok, K Nick Folk has also been released, the team has no current kicker.

The Patriots released Nick Folk, according to a source. So they're starting over at kicker.

— Karen Guregian (@kguregian) September 5, 2020

15:52- Less than 10 minutes to go now until the cut deadline, wouldn’t be surprised if the team confirm some of the remaining cuts via an official announcement.

15:45- The first real shock today in my opinion, the Patriots are releasing sixth-round draft choice LB Cassh Maluia.

The Patriots released LB Cassh Maluia, according to a source.

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) September 5, 2020

15:15- Was always going to be tough for Bryant to break into that deep CB group, fingers crossed he clears waivers, will be a great opportunity for him to develop further with the team.

12:48- A former Pats draftee on the move again.

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 5, 2020

12:17- Here are the 9 players that have been released so far today.

DT Bill Murray

12:06- Patriots are releasing DT Bill Murray.

The #Patriots released UDFA DT Bill Murray, per source.

— Evan Lazar (@ezlazar) September 5, 2020

12:05- Cap check-in!

As of noon and with 69 players on the Patriots active roster I now have the Patriots salary cap space number as $35,556,075, an increase of $175,000 from last night's ending total.

— Patscap's Patriots Cap Space Number is in Bio (@patscap) September 5, 2020

11:51- LB Terez Hall is also being released. 16 to go.

The Patriots have released LB Terez Hall, a source tells @YahooSports.

I've always enjoyed the downhill style of my former #Mizzou namesake — here's to hoping he latches on with a team quickly.

— RIP Terez A. Paylor (@TerezPaylor) September 5, 2020

11:50- I went back and forth whether or not to include Miller in my final roster projection on Thursday. I finally talked myself into keeping him on the team given the injury news regarding Damien Harris, but ultimately, there wasn’t enough time for Miller to get acclimatized.

11:45- First announced by Adam Schefter, the Pats have released RB Lamar Miller.

Another surprise cut: Patriots released RB Lamar Miller, per source.

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 5, 2020

11:13- Elsewhere in the league, a QB with some experience was just released in Tennessee.

11:09- It’s been an hour since the last reported roster cut, the Patriots still have 18 players to release.

10:30- For anyone thinking Texans QB Deshaun Watson was going to be a Patriot one day, you’ll need to wait a few more years at least.

Deshaun Watson gets a shorter deal, a chance to get to the market faster… and PAID. https://t.co/J3qhYA9jaH

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 5, 2020

10:21- The six releases so far…
WR Jeff Thomas
OL Ben Braden
QB Brian Lewerke
TE Paul Butler
WR Andre Baccellia
OL Tyler Gauthier

10:11- Some important info to remember.

Not only are practice squads expanding to 16 players this year, but 6 of those spots can be occupied by vested veterans (4+ years of service).

An important note this weekend, as veterans let go today have a better chance of finding work again sooner.

— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 5, 2020

10:09- Jeff Howe reports that the team has waived WR Andre Baccellia and OL Tyler Gauthier. 18 left.

The Patriots released Tyler Gauthier, per source.

The Patriots released Andre Baccellia, per source.

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) September 5, 2020

10:00- The first hour has seen four reported cuts, no real surprises, I did have Jeff Thomas sticking around, but the team was willing to let him hit the wire and could bring him back.

09:47- In non-Patriots news, Jadeveon Clowney just fired his agent. Again.

09:34- 20 to go, TE Paul Butler who joined during camp is the next player to be released.

The Patriots are releasing TE Paul Butler, per source.

— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) September 5, 2020

09:33- 21 to go, UDFA QB Brian Lewerke has been waived by the Patriots, may return as an emergency backup on the PS.

— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September 5, 2020

09:25- 22 players left to cut.

09:22- Next to go is OL Ben Braden, not much surprise here as he didn’t do much through-out training camp and was always a long shot.

The Patriots plan to release OL Ben Braden, per source.

— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) September 5, 2020

09:17- Here’s the first cut of the day, WR Jeff Thomas has been released.

Patriots have released rookie WR Jeff Thomas. https://t.co/iWFlDT64ov

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 5, 2020

09:06- It’s safe to say that the 53-man roster at the end of the day will change again in the coming days, remember, the team will need to fill it’s 16 slot practice squad, and also designate players to IR, if applicable.

09:00- By 4 pm EST, the Patriots will have trimmed down their roster from 77 to 53, stay tuned for all of today’s breaking news right here.
