Belichick Hoodie Update: A New Cut Hoodie Rises

October 2, 2018 by Mike Dussault

The Patriots bounced back after two road losses with a merciless domination of the Dolphins back in the friendly confines of Foxboro. Getting into stats before October is a sample size recipe for overreaction, but now in Week 5 let’s take a quick look at the signature statistic of PatsPropaganda, the Bill Belichick Hoodie Database.

Last season, the Hot Jacket surpassed the infamous cut gray hoodie in wins and win percentage. It was once again the centerpiece of the Belichick gameday attire. The biggest twist of the year was when Belichick wore the old blue Reebok Hoodie under his winter jacket in the AFC Divisional game against the Titans.

But the ultimate lesson was that Belichick CANNOT CUT HIS SLEEVES IN THE SUPER BOWL. The coach has lost three Super Bowls in New England and each time he was wearing a sweatshirt that had the arms hacked off. I’ve apologized all offseason for not recognizing the trend and sounding the alarm sooner.

This could be an unfortunate fact for the new favorite Belichick Hoodie that has emerged the last two weeks to pull even with the Hot Jacket that he wore the first two. The 2016 style has been worn five times — twice as the way-too-cutoff gray mock version in 2016 wins over the Texans and Browns. He wore an uncut blue hoodie version in a regular season win over the Jets, and then playoff wins over the Texans and Steelers.

Prior to last week’s loss to the Lions, the 2016 Belichick model was undefeated overall. Now with the wins over the Dolphins it moves to 6-1.

After years of getting away from classic gray cutoff hoodies, Belichick has returned and with the weather turning cold, the prospects for the 2016 gray cutoff look promising.
